A City and neighborhood planning process to identify, prioritize and design the most effective investments and interventions to implement the I-81 Community Vision Plan goals which aim to address inequities on the southside of Syracuse that have resulted from a raised highway that inhibits community access to jobs, education, healthcare, and recreation.
The implementation plan will reconnecting the project area following the removal of I-81, with specific considerations for pedestrian, bicycle, and public transportation/BRT pathways along multiple potential east-west routes across the dividing facilities.
As part of an interdisciplinary planning team led by Stantec Mobility Planning & Design group, Ideas and Action is leading analysis and evaluation of neighborhood real estate and community investment opportunities that will compliment new connective infrastructure investments and mitigate risks of displacement. Ideas and Action is advising on project and program feasibility, working directly with City staff on implementation recommendations that leverage local resources and partner capacities.
